SBE Inc., (NASDAQ:SBEI), a leading provider of high-performance
IP-based networking solutions for next-generation storage and
communications systems, today announced that two storage equipment
providers, Silicon Mechanics and Genstor Systems, have chosen to
license and integrate SBE's PyX iSCSI target software into their
Internet Protocol (IP) based storage area network (SAN) systems.
Silicon Mechanics is integrating SBE's PyX iSCSI target software
into its Rackform Storage Server Series. A leading integrator of
rack-optimized servers, storage and high performance computing
products, Silicon Mechanics allows its customers to select from
standard or custom system configurations tailored to uniquely meet
any computing environment. "After months of in-depth product
evaluation and testing with SBE's PyX iSCSI target and initiator
software, we are confident that the PyX iSCSI is ideally-suited for
addressing the demanding application needs of our diverse customer
base," said Jack Kintz, Vice President, Product Development of
Silicon Mechanics. "Many factors contributed to our final selection
of SBE's iSCSI software over competitive products, including its
ease of use, full error recovery, multipathing functionality, and
complete interoperability." Genstor Systems is utilizing SBE's
iSCSI solutions into its series of Intel Xeon and AMD Opteron based
IP SAN storage servers. Specializing in the customization of
systems that suit the unique requirements of specific market
sectors, the Genstor team has served fortune 500 corporations,
small-to-medium sized businesses (SMBs), educational institutions,
and the government. "Given the advanced networking features and
superior performance of SBE's iSCSI target software, we've decided
to proactively offer our customers iSCSI solutions based around
it," remarked Kedar Rajadnya, Vice President of Business
Development at Genstor Systems. "We expect that incorporating SBE's
reliable, feature-rich iSCSI stack will significantly enhance the
iSCSI functionality and performance available with our storage
servers. Our customers will also have the added benefit of
downloading SBE's highly stable open source initiator to utilize
with our target offerings." "We look forward to working closely
with Silicon Mechanics and Genstor Systems during the integration,
testing, and launch of their next generation IP SAN appliances,"
commented Nelson Abal, Vice President of Sales at SBE. "These wins
further support and advance the traction that our innovative iSCSI
software solutions are gaining in the marketplace. We are pleased
to see that our sales efforts to seed the market over the past six
to eight months is beginning to show returns," continued Abal. Both
the Silicon Mechanics (www.siliconmechanics.com) and Genstor
Systems (www.genstor.com) storage equipment featuring SBE's PyX
iSCSI software will be available within the first quarter of 2006.
PyX iSCSI Protocol Stack The advanced features designed into the
architecture of the PyX iSCSI protocol stack enables efficient and
cost-effective storage transport by optimizing bandwidth usage,
enabling unlimited storage to be attached to each target device,
and leveraging existing network technologies. The iSCSI technology,
fully compliant with the IETF RFC 3270 standard, enables an
enterprise-level IP storage platform that transports data to and
from networked storage with full error recovery (ERL2), automatic
load balancing, and multi-path capabilities previously available
only in costly Fibre Channel architectures. Because of the ubiquity
of IP networks, iSCSI transmits data from any storage
(SATA/SAS/SCSI, Fibre Channel/etc.) over LANs, WANs, or the
Internet and enables location independent data storage and
retrieval. About SBE SBE designs and provides IP-based networking
solutions for an extensive range of applied computing applications.
SBE delivers a portfolio of scalable, standards-based hardware and
software products, including iSCSI and VoIP, designed to enable
optimal performance and rapid deployment across a wide range of
next generation communications and storage systems. Based in San
Ramon, California, SBE is a publicly traded company (NASDAQ:SBEI)
with products sold worldwide through direct sales, OEMs and system
integration partners. For additional information, please visit
