PECO II Achieves Breakthrough in Power Distribution Technology
September 15 2008 - 8:30AM
PR Newswire (US)
GALION, Ohio, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- PECO II, Inc.
(NASDAQ: PIII), a communications industry power systems and
services provider, today announced that it has launched its 5069HC
High Capacity Battery Distribution Fuse Bay, a modular power
distribution solution offering 66 percent improvement in current
capacity. The 5069HC, with its industry-leading 1000 Amps per
panel, enables telecom power engineers to significantly lower the
cost of powering and cabling new high-power network elements such
as routers, optical equipment and broadband delivery systems. The
5069HC provides 1000 Amps of distribution per load, or 6000 Amps in
a single bay, allowing the telecom power engineer to serve more
high-current devices without exhausting the capacity of the power
feed. It consists of up to six distribution panels, each equipped
with 24 distribution positions that can accept either plug-in style
circuit breakers or fuses. The 5069HC accommodates 1-, 2-, or
3-pole devices, up to 250 Amps, making it ideal for serving large
loads while preserving plenty of distribution positions for
traditional loads. For added flexibility, the modular 5069HC can be
configured in a 2-, 4- or 6-load arrangement. This design feature
allows the user to manage growth based on immediate demand. The new
space-saving design allows up to 24 750KCMIL feed cables to be
terminated in the 5069HC. Kevin Borders, PECO II vice president of
marketing and product development, said, "The 5069HC solves the
problem of how to distribute large amounts of current to new
high-power network elements. It lowers the total cost of ownership
for distributing power while improving planning flexibility for the
power engineers. The design team's focus on cable management
resulted in optimized engineering and installation and makes future
cable additions simple and straightforward. This development
demonstrates PECO's ability to understand and solve the real issues
experienced by our customers." The 5069HC has been NEBS Level 3
certified by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory. The
product has been successfully deployed by a national service
provider, and is currently under evaluation by another leading
carrier. It will be generally available in October. About PECO II,
