July 05 2005 - 8:30AM
Business Wire
O2Micro(R) International Limited (Nasdaq:OIIM), a leading supplier
of innovative power management, and security components and systems
for the Computer, Consumer, Industrial, and Communications markets,
was granted 19 claims under GB (Great Britain) patent number
2,398,403 for its Power Switch device for PC Cards. The invention
brings new circuitry to a PC Card power switch to automatically
sense specialty card applications, such as USB PC Cards. The
enhanced PC Card power switch may automatically switch in external
resources and power the socket based on sensing inputs. It is
particularly useful for enabling ExpressCard(TM) compatible
PCI-Express and USB2.0 interfaces, offering a PC Card adapter for
the new connectivity scheme. "With this invention, O2Micro reduces
the complexity of adding new connectivity interfaces to a PC Card
socket, enabling technologies such as USB2.0 without modifying the
digital controller," commented Max Huang, O2Micro's executive vice
president of the Intelligent E-Commerce business unit. About
