The official website of the Elections Division of the Alabama
Secretary of State, AlabamaVotes.gov, was presented with a silver
award in the government agency category for the Horizon Interactive
Awards. The site, which has been promoted heavily by the Secretary
of State’s Office as an integral part of its commitment to the
integrity of elections in Alabama, provides citizens with critical
voter and election information. High traffic features of the site
include: a platform for citizens to register to vote, review
election laws, view polling places, and report election fraud.
The website strongly encourages citizen engagement in upcoming
elections by clearly outlining state and local election details and
offering a free photo voter ID, which was required by state law in
2014. Election results are also centrally located in a notification
banner to alert site visitors of election outcomes.
An international panel of judges, consisting of industry
professionals with diverse backgrounds, evaluated categories
ranging from online advertising to mobile applications. The 2017
winning entries showcase the industry’s best interactive media
solutions including websites, mobile applications, print media,
interactive displays, public exhibits, online advertising, video,
email and more.
About the Horizon Interactive Awards
The competition recognizes, promotes and awards the best
websites, videos, online advertising, print media and mobile
applications. Each year, the Horizon Interactive Awards receives
thousands of entries from all over the world and a volunteer panel
of industry professionals, from diverse multi-media, graphic
design, advertising and marketing backgrounds, review the entries
to determine the work that is to be recognized.
