The Utah Division of Motor Vehicles announced today that its On The Spot Renewal program has renewed over two million vehicle registrations since its launch in 2005. The service is available through DMV Utah.gov, and offered at safety and emission inspection stations across the state.

Utah’s On the Spot Renewal is an online service used by more than 500 inspection stations statewide to renew vehicle registrations at the point of sale and issue a decal immediately. This convenient service allows citizens to submit a complete vehicle inspection and annual registration renewal all in one location in a matter of minutes.

“On the Spot was the nation’s first real-time registration renewal program offered where citizens are already having their vehicles serviced, and we are pleased to have reached this significant milestone,” said Barry Conover, Executive Director of the Utah Tax Commission. “For seven years, citizens have been extremely happy with the service and we are also pleased to expand the service by offering registration renewals for watercraft and off road vehicles at select locations.”

As one of Utah.gov’s many online services, On the Spot Renewal represents an ongoing commitment to use technology to provide convenient and innovative resources to Utah citizens.
