SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Integrated Silicon Solution Inc. (NASDAQ:ISSI), today announced a joint development program with Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan for network DVD Recorder/Player applications. The solution platform will be demonstrated at the Consumer Electronics Show, January 5-8, in the Sands Convention Center, Booth #72167~72369, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The new network DVD recorder/player adds Flash card reader functionality to the DVD recorder/player and allows pictures, movies, or music to be played from or recorded to Flash cards directly via the DVD system without using a computer. ISSI's All-in-One Flash card reader controller, the IC1230, complies with the USB2.0 high speed specification and supports Flash media cards in all formats including SmartMedia, Security Digital, Multimedia Card, CompactFlash, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Pro and xD. Integrated with a MCS-52 CPU core, 32Kbyte internal Flash, hardware ECC and Cyclic Redundancy Check, as well as 256 byte fixed data RAM and 5Kbyte floating data RAM, the Flash card controller fully utilizes the USB2.0 high speed 480Mb/sec bandwidth and optimizes the data throughput between Flash cards and the host. "ISSI's IC1230 controller adds extra capabilities to our existing DVD products. The ease of use makes integration with our platform a breeze," said Dr. Guo Zua Wu, Department Manager of Information Storage Division for the Industrial Technology Research Institute. "IC1230's embedded Flash feature is especially important to our Flash card reader controller selection to ensure current and future compatibility of different Flash cards throughout the life of our products," Dr. Wu added. "The flexibility and robustness of our card reader controller design makes it a natural fit for ITRI's innovative network DVD recorder/player," said David Chow, vice president of product marketing for ISSI. "These same benefits also apply to other applications including multi function printers, HDTVs, projection TVs, projectors and other streaming media consumer applications."
