IP PBX by Interactive Intelligence Wins Product of the Year Award
INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Interactive
Intelligence Inc.'s IP PBX, called Enterprise Interaction Center(R)
(EIC), was named Product of the Year this month by Technology
Marketing Corp.'s (TMC)(TM) INTERNET TELEPHONY(R) magazine. (Logo:

award is given to companies that have demonstrated a commitment to
quality, and a commitment to the further development of the IP
telephony industry through their contributions, according to the
magazine's editorial director, Greg Galitzine. "By incorporating
open standards like SIP into an already easy-to-manage and
feature-rich IP PBX, Interactive Intelligence continues to increase
IP telephony's return on investment, thus helping to make it the de
facto communications technology of this decade," Galitzine said.
EIC runs on the Windows 2000 operating system and extends IP PBX
functionality to include features such as voice mail, unified
messaging, desktop soft phone, auto attendant, desktop faxing, call
routing, hot-desking, virtual office support, conferencing,
Internet text chat, Web callback, informal workgroup routing,
supervisory monitoring and reporting. EIC also comes with a Setup
Assistant(TM) that enables the system to be deployed in a matter of
hours, complete with customized call routing, auto- attendant
menus, group and user-level security, multi-site call distribution
and more. In addition to built-in SIP support and an optional free
SIP proxy server, organizations can also purchase an all-software
version of EIC using Intel's HMP software. This version eliminates
the need for voice boards, thus cutting the cost of IP telephony
deployments by as much as 30 percent. "Until recently organizations
had a difficult time justifying a technology like IP telephony
that, while seeming to promise some cost savings and increases in
productivity, did not free them from vendor lock-in or the
integration difficulties of traditional telephony," said Dr. Donald
E. Brown, president and chief executive officer for Interactive
Intelligence. "We developed EIC to address these issues and, with
it, hope to show organizations that they don't have to sacrifice
interoperability or sophisticated applications to get the inherent
benefits of IP telephony." Interactive Intelligence first released
EIC in 1997. The product is targeted at organizations with between
20 and several thousand users, including those with branch offices
and mobile users. EIC was awarded INTERNET TELEPHONY's 2003
Editor's Choice and received Miercom's NetWORKs As Advertised
certification this year based on on-site lab test results. EIC is
offered through the company's channel of approximately 140 global
resellers. For more information about EIC, visit
