Software Magazine has ranked global provider of unified IP business communications solutions, Interactive Intelligence (Nasdaq: ININ), among the world’s 500 largest software and service providers.

Interactive Intelligence advanced in this year’s ranking for the 10th year in a row, placing 185th with 2009 revenue of $131.4 million. This represents a growth rate of 8.2 percent over revenue from 2008.

“We improved our ranking this year from our 194th spot last year, and we’ve climbed a total of 82 places over the last four years on this prestigious benchmark list,” said Interactive Intelligence founder and CEO, Dr. Donald E. Brown. “We attribute much of our growth in 2009 to our success in moving up-market with more than double the number of $1 million-plus orders compared to 2008. We also saw major growth in our communications-as-a-service business, which was up 59 percent last year compared to 2008.”

“The Software 500 helps CIOs, senior IT managers and IT staff research and create their short list of business partners,” said Software Magazine’s editorial director, John P. Desmond. “It’s a quick reference for vendor viability. As a vendor on this list for 10 years running, Interactive Intelligence has clearly shown that it can consistently execute on its vision for developing innovative communications software and services.”

The Software 500 is a revenue-based ranking of the world’s largest software and services suppliers targeting medium to large enterprises, their IT professionals, software developers and business managers involved in software and services purchasing.

The ranking is based on total worldwide software and services revenue for 2009. This includes revenues from software licenses, maintenance and support, training and software-related services and consulting. Suppliers are not ranked on their total corporate revenue, since many have other lines of business, such as hardware.
