FLORHAM PARK, N.J.,
Aug. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Global
Crossing (NASDAQ: GLBC), a leading global IP solutions provider,
today announced that Michael Miller,
vice president of the company's Federal Sector, will present at the
United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team's (US-CERT's)
GFIRST Conference on Thursday, August
11, at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel & Convention Center in
Nashville, Tennessee.
The annual GFIRST Conference instructs non-technical,
public- and private-sector leaders in the fundamentals of
cybersecurity and incident response. This year, attendees
will have the opportunity to meet with more than 70 Information
Technology exhibitors who provide cutting-edge solutions and
technology, as well as to participate in six days of training,
presentations and plenary sessions.
"Cybersecurity continues to be a complex problem that needs to
be addressed throughout the entire communication path," said
Miller. "Internet Service Providers, or ISPs, have a unique
role in the protection of this path based on their centrality to
the Internet, and their connections to downstream ISPs, enterprises
or consumers."
Miller's presentation, "Transforming the Internet Service
Provider's Role in Cybersecurity," will explain how, by deploying
cybersecurity at the ISP level, a new class of "Assured" services
can be offered.
"This new class of 'Assured' services will improve the level of
protection for customers," Miller continued. "In addition,
advanced perimeter security measures can be simplified by deploying
cybersecurity within the Internet Service Provider cloud."
