Fairchild Semiconductor Receives Hisense Strategic Supplier Award
August 10 2009 - 11:35AM
Business Wire
Fairchild Semiconductor (NYSE: FCS), a leading global supplier
of high performance products to drive energy-efficiency, has
received the Strategic Supplier Award, 2009 from Hisense.
Hisense specializes in designing and manufacturing consumer
electronics, its main products are televisions, air conditioners,
refrigerators, computers and CDMA mobile phones. Sales of
flat-panel televisions in China reached 28 million units up to
2008, this year sales are expected to reach 15 million units.
Fairchild provides Hisense with leading-edge power management
and analog switch solutions for deployment in its comprehensive
range of CRT, LCD, plasma and LCD TVs targeting domestic and
international markets. Fairchild products enable Hisense to design
TVs that have increased power efficiency and system reliability as
well as improved performance. For example, Fairchild’s PDP-SPM™
integrated power modules are designed specifically for driving
plasma display panels (PDP); Fairchild’s Green FPS™ power switch,
the FSFR2100, and the FAN7261 resonant controller are ideal for LCD
and PDP TV applications.
Fairchild is the first and only supplier to provide a complete
power IC portfolio for AC-DC SMPS designs. Fairchild continues to
create innovative SMPS designs by increasing efficiency, reducing
standby power, decreasing cost, eliminating excess weight and
reducing the overall size.
China’s LCD TV manufacturers are redefining their business
strategy in a bid to gain better control of core technologies and
their associated costs, and ultimately boost China’s overall
competitiveness in this fast growth product. Having been largely
dependent on the supply of LCD panels, many China suppliers,
especially tier-one companies such as Hisense, have started
creating their own LCD module production lines. Fairchild, The
Power Franchise®, is focused on power electronics and energy
efficiency and the company is perfectly positioned to provide
designers and manufacturers with power semiconductor products to
ensure their TVs are as energy-efficient as possible.
"Receiving this Strategic Supplier Award highlights the
significant contribution that Fairchild has made and continues to
make to the rapidly growing TV design and manufacturing industry in
China," said Benjamin Tan, Fairchild’s regional vice president,
Sales & Marketing, China and SEA. “It validates our focus on
developing the right high quality products that drive
energy-efficiency, and also on delivering to our customers, such as
Hisense, on time.”
