PR Newswire (US)
Company Strengthens Partnership With L-3 SafeView SUNNYVALE,
Calif., Aug. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Endwave Corporation
(NASDAQ:ENWV), a leading provider of high-frequency RF modules for
telecommunications networks, defense electronics and homeland
security systems, today announced an agreement with L-3
Communications SafeView (L-3 SafeView) to manufacture the complete
RF system for their SafeScout(TM) portal scanner used in a variety
of security applications. Endwave is fully integrating and testing
the active RF subsystems which form the vertical electronic
scanning array (or RF mast) for SafeScout. Once assembled into the
mechanical housing, each RF mast rotates 180 degrees around a
person standing in the portal, providing a full 360 degree scan of
the body within a matter of seconds. These masts incorporate a full
suite of Endwave switch arrays and transceivers, along with the
associated cabling and surrounding framework that holds the
scanning antennas onto each side of the portal. Endwave has been
supplying the individual transceiver and switch array modules for
integration by L-3 SafeView, but this is the first time the company
has delivered fully integrated and final tested masts which form
the entire millimeter-wave system within SafeView's advanced portal
scanner. SafeScout is deployed at security checkpoints in the U.S.,
Middle East, Asia and Europe for the detection of explosives,
weapons and contraband. "SafeView's selection of Endwave as their
RF system integrator is an indication of our enhanced capability in
providing system-level multi-function assemblies to our customers,"
said Ed Keible, Chief Executive Officer and President of Endwave
Corporation. "Endwave has continually demonstrated proficiency in
both millimeter-wave design and in low-cost manufacturing that has
been critical to SafeView's progress," said Rick Rowe, President of
L-3 SafeView. "As the mast integration, troubleshooting, and final
test all require millimeter-wave expertise, Endwave was an obvious
choice for this critical outsourcing selection," added Rowe. About
