EFJ, Inc. Lands $550,000 Order from Fairbanks, Alaska City to Use
P25 Radios for Public Safety and Public Service WASHINGTON, Aug. 12
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- EFJ, Inc. (NASDAQ:EFJI) announced today
that its EFJohnson subsidiary has received an order for $550,000
from the City of Fairbanks, Alaska. The order EFJohnson has
received is to provide the City with its Project 25 compliant
portable and mobile radios. "We continue to increase our traction
in the state and local arena," said Michael E. Jalbert, chairman
and chief executive officer of EFJ, Inc. "We have certainly
benefited from the Alaska Land Mobile Radio project which is one of
the first examples of joint sponsorship between the federal
government and state and local jurisdictions working together on
upgrading their telecommunications infrastructure. Our business
year to date in Alaska totals over $3 million and we are pleased to
be a part of this joint project," Jalbert added. This radio order
was purchased under the 15 member Western States Contracting
Alliance (WSCA) contract vehicle. EFJohnson was named as a supplier
of public safety communications equipment by WSCA in November 2003.
The WSCA contract vehicle has an initial term of three years with
optional extensions not to exceed ten years total and has a
possible total value of $500 million to all suppliers. EFJohnson
