Deffenbaugh Industries Collaborates With Cerner Corporation to Launch On-Site Health and Wellness Center
December 13 2010 - 8:30AM
Deffenbaugh Industries has partnered with Cerner Corporation
(Nasdaq:CERN) to develop an employee health and wellness center,
opening Dec. 13, 2010, at the Deffenbaugh Industries headquarters
in Kansas City, KS. The addition of the on-site health and wellness
center will serve more than 800 local Deffenbaugh Industries
employees, giving them convenient access to:
- Primary and Urgent Care: Treatment of common
illnesses
- Occupational Health: Work-related injuries or
illnesses
- Pharmacy Services: The clinic will dispense,
at no charge, up to 50 of the most commonly used non-narcotic
pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter drugs
- Wellness Programs: Cholesterol management,
weight loss, diabetes management and smoking cessation
As pressure mounts nationwide to control rising healthcare
expenditures and maintain affordable healthcare plans, Deffenbaugh
Industries took a proactive approach to address these issues head
on. They reached out to CBIZ Benefits & Insurance Services to
assist with creating an integrated employee health strategy, as
well as, evaluating the feasibility, assessment and selection of a
healthcare partner that could assist them in developing and
operating on-site health services for employees. CBIZ helped them
choose Cerner, who has been operating its own primary care clinic
on its headquarters campus since 2006 and works with employers
across the country to reduce the costs associated with the delivery
of healthcare and increase employees' productivity by improving
their overall health and the health of their families.
"It is imperative to be able to offer our employees lower cost
healthcare options, tied with education, so they can make smarter
consumer choices when they need healthcare. The choice was simple
to partner with Cerner and CBIZ because they had advanced knowledge
in implementing onsite clinics, some of the best insight in the
industry, and a handle on Deffenbaugh Industries' goals for our
2011 health and wellness programming and beyond," said Nancy Fox,
Deffenbaugh Industries VP of human resources.
The December launch of the health and wellness center will
support Deffenbaugh Industries with an innovative healthcare model.
Employees will benefit from a larger focus on preventing
illnesses/injuries with access to confidential biometric
screenings, robust wellness programming and education, and free or
low cost routine physicals and shots. Employees will also benefit
from convenient treatment for work-related injuries and integration
with safety programs at Deffenbaugh Industries.
