At a recent meeting of Ceradyne, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRDN) Board of Directors, Dr. Siegfried Müssig was unanimously elected to its Board of Directors and the company's Technology Committee.

Prior to joining Ceradyne, Dr. Müssig played a vital role in the PetroCeram® development. Dr. Müssig's entire career has been dedicated to solving technical issues related to economical high-productivity wells worldwide. Dr. Müssig holds a Diploma and a PhD in Physics and Physical Chemistry from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany. Between 1982 and 2002, he held a number of technical and management positions at BEB Erdgas and Erdöl GmbH, Hanover, Germany. In 2002, he joined Shell Exploration and Production B.V., where he worked until 2005 as Smart Field Regional Coordinator for the Middle East and Africa operating from The Hague, the Netherlands, followed by a position as UGS Development Manager at Rohölaufsuchungs-Gesellschaft in Vienna, Austria between 2006 and 2008. Since 2008, Dr. Müssig worked as Manager, Well Technology for Maersk Oil, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Dr. Müssig fills the vacancy due to the recent resignation of Dr. Bill LaCourse for personal reasons.
