For-profit colleges in Florida's higher education market offer
career focused education at premium pricing and have grown nearly
25% in the last year, according to data recently released by the
Florida Association of Postsecondary Schools & Colleges. Le
Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Miami (LCB Miami) is a
proprietary college that offers students a hands-on educational
experience to develop a successful career in the culinary arts.
LCB Miami is extremely pleased with the growth in our category,
said Kelly Bozarth, president of LCB Miami, and we are equally
sensitive to the cost of education and the need to deliver quality
outcomes by adding value. LCB Miami has taken action to add value
to their curricula with a set of programs designed to increase
student success and graduate rates and to facilitate student
success. These initiatives center around three deliverables:
personalized services, market-based program offerings and a student
success enterprise. Our leadership initiatives translate into a
value driven experience, added Bozarth. The combined elements of
the initiatives create a unique offer among institutions of higher
learning. According to Bozarth, the level of instruction LCB Miami
students receive is exceptional and personal. Class sizes are small
and each student is assigned to a chef instructor as an academic
mentor. Additionally, professional staff in career and student
services has doubled in the past 18-months affording similar levels
of attention in support services. The population growth at LCB
Miami is powered by new programs developed to meet market needs.
The Le Cordon Bleu Ptisserie and Baking diploma program and the Le
Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts diploma program each opened in 2007 and
provide students tailored options for specific career paths. This
year, the same Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts diploma program offered
in English was launched in Spanish. This innovation was the first
of its kind in the United States, opening formal culinary training
to Spanish speakers, while also teaching English language skills.
The Student Success Enterprise is a set of activities created to
guide students to learn how to learn. These services are designed
to improve interpersonal and learning skills and are available at
no additional cost. As a result a higher percentage of students
graduated this year than in the history of LCB Miami. Bozarth adds,
Our success is our students success. Given the diversity of our
student population, it was absolutely our goal to build programs
that make a difference. About Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary
