Excellent Signal Integrity and Superior EMI Filtering MILPITAS,
Calif., March 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- California Micro Devices
(NASDAQ:CAMD) today announced the CM1693 family of advanced EMI
(electromagnetic interference) filters based upon the company's
Praetorian III LC based filtering technology. The CM1693 is the
first device to meet exacting EMI filter and ESD (electrostatic
discharge) protection requirements while offering the low line
capacitance necessary for the increasingly higher speed data
interfaces to the high resolution cameras and displays used in
today's most popular feature and smart phone models. The CM1693
also provides superior attenuation in the 700 MHz band, making it
the optimal solution for handset designs based upon 4G LTE based
processors. (Photo:

III Technology The CM1693 is a low pass EMI filter that features a
unique coupled inductor design architecture based on CMD's
Praetorian III technology. Praetorian III products offer higher
performance than Praetorian I products, at lower cost equivalent to
the recently introduced Praetorian II family of products.
Praetorian III filter designs employ higher levels of inductance
and lower levels of capacitance to deliver industry leading EMI
suppression, excellent signal integrity and robust ESD production
in a space efficient, single chip solution. Application
Requirements for Feature and Smart Phones Smart phone adoption is
outpacing the growth rate of the overall wireless handset market.
The typical smart phone feature set includes high resolution user
interfaces such as cameras and displays, and high capacity
removable memory modules for data-rich multimedia applications.
Inductor based LC solutions like the CM1693 are ideal for EMI
filtering and protecting high speed parallel data interfaces in
applications where digital signal integrity is critical, such as
high megapixel cameras, high density removable memory modules, and
high resolution displays. Main Features Key performance attributes
of the CM1693's scalable pi-filter topology include: -- Typical
roll off frequencies of 300 MHz -- Broad stop band starting in 700
MHz band up to 6 GHz -- High levels of attenuation and robust ESD
protection up to plus or minus 18kV contact discharge, consistent
with the IEC 61000-4-2 level 2 standard -- Superior signal
integrity with rise and fall times less than 4ns -- Minimal
insertion loss (
