CMD's MediaGuard(TM) CM2021 Port Protector Ensures Robust HDMI(TM)
Solution MILPITAS, Calif., April 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
California Micro Devices (NASDAQ:CAMD), a leading supplier of
application specific analog semiconductor products for the digital
consumer, mobile and personal computing markets, today announced
that Micronas, (SWX Swiss Exchange: MASN), a leading supplier of
innovative application specific IC system solutions for consumer
electronics, incorporated the single chip MediaGuard(TM) CM2021
port protector for high speed High-Definition Multimedia
Interface(TM) (HDMI(TM)) into their newest HDTV reference design.
CMD's MediaGuard(TM) Port Protector California Micro Devices'
MediaGuard(TM) CM2021 multifunction ASIP(TM) (Application Specific
Integrated Passive(TM)) device, the industry's first HDMI port
protection solution, provides robust ESD (electrostatic discharge)
and backdrive protection with the industry's best signal integrity.
The MediaGuard(TM) port protector integrates ESD protection and
backdrive protection for all 12 HDMI signal lines, as well as very
low capacitance level shifters for DDC, CEC and Hot Plug functions.
The ultra low capacitance and high resonance frequency achieved
enable reliable signal quality at 1080P resolution for high
definition televisions. This proven solution also simplifies layout
while lowering component count and system cost. Micronas' HDTV
Reference Design Micronas' latest HDTV reference design is based on
the VCT 6wxyP, a single chip LCD TV solution with dedicated
features such as 3D comb filter, component input for HDTV signals,
and LVDS outputs. The mixed signal IC family VCT 6wxyP sets a new
standard of integration of high quality video, audio,
de-interlacing, scaling and controller functionalities, and paves
the way for the fast growing market of LCD TV applications. "Our
customers are looking for reliable and proven HDMI protection
solutions," states Joe Salvador, director of marketing for
computing and digital consumer products at California Micro
Devices. "Micronas has a strong presence in the consumer IC market,
and by working closely with them, we are able to provide our
customers with a complete, robust and proven solution, simplifying
their design challenge and accelerating their time to market."
Hermann Zibold, director of Business Line Value TV at Micronas,
explains: "CMD offered the best ESD protection and signal integrity
in an economical, single chip solution that is easy to layout. This
allowed us to provide our customers with a robust HDMI solution
while simplifying their engineering efforts and reducing costs," he
continued. Micronas is a reliable partner for HDTV television
manufacturers, with an attractive portfolio of scalable system
solutions, an impressive line-up of innovative IC families, and a
worldwide marketing and customer support infrastructure located
right next door to the key CE industry players. Micronas has the
knowhow and the technologies to support these latest generations of
high definition displays like next generation LCD and plasma panels
thanks to its longstanding business relations with these key
players. About California Micro Devices Corporation California
