Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc. (AAWW) (Nasdaq: AAWW), a
leading global provider of outsourced aircraft and aviation
operating services, today confirmed that Adam R. Kokas, Senior Vice
President, General Counsel, Chief Human Resources Officer and
Secretary, has been named Chairman of the Board of Directors of the
Cargo Airline Association. Mr. Kokas succeeds Robert Gray, Vice
President, Flight Operations of ABX Air, who has held the position
for five years. Mr. Gray will remain on the board.
Commenting on his selection, Mr. Kokas noted: “I am delighted to
chair the Cargo Airline Association, which is the nationwide voice
for the all-cargo air carrier industry and others in the air cargo
marketplace that depend on these services. The CAA was established
in 1948, and was founded to protect the then newly formed air
freight forwarding industry. The air cargo industry has grown
immensely since that time and faces many more challenges today. We
rely on the CAA as a strong advocate representing our industry
before federal and state regulatory bodies, the United States
Congress and, when necessary, in the federal and state courts.”
Atlas Air has been a member of CAA for almost 15 years. Other
members include major airports and cargo carriers, including FedEx
Express and United Parcel Service.
Stephen A. Alterman, President of the Association, said, “All of
us in the industry welcome Adam as our new Chairman and look
forward to working with him on the many challenges we face. His
background and industry knowledge will be an invaluable asset as we
move forward. We also thank Bob Gray for his valuable direction and
hard work over the past years. We are pleased he will continue to
serve on our board.”
Mr. Kokas joined the Atlas family in 2006 after more than ten
years in private practice, specializing in all aspects of corporate
and securities, finance and business law. In his current position,
Mr. Kokas is responsible for providing legal, human resources and
business counsel to all levels of the company. He is a graduate of
Rutgers University and Boston University School of Law (cum
laude).
