Aladdin Knowledge Systems (NASDAQ: ALDN) today announced the general availability of HASP SRM version 3.60, offering automatic file-wrapping for Windows x64 applications, and a host of additional enhancements. Software publishers developing for Windows x64 are able to automatically "wrap" their files with HASP SRM's award-winning software security technology to protect against piracy, reverse-engineering and intellectual property (IP) theft.

Windows x64 Envelope Support

The HASP SRM Windows Envelope automatically "wraps" Windows x64 applications with a protective shield that incorporates anti-reverse engineering, file encryption, code obfuscation, system-level anti-debugging, and automatic licensing. Within minutes, software is completely protected against outside threats without requiring any changes to the source code itself, allowing software engineers to focus on core capabilities to streamline business processes.

Unified Windows Envelope GUI for Added Ease-of-Use

To improve usability, the HASP SRM Windows Envelope now features a unified GUI for protecting Win x32, Java, .NET and Windows x64 applications. Software publishers developing software containing components from multiple programming environments are able to protect their software through a single user interface.

Chris Flores, a director of Windows Client Communications at Microsoft, reported that use of Windows x64 computers nearly tripled between March and June of 2008. "The installed base of 64-bit Windows Vista PCs, as a percentage of all Windows Vista systems, has more than tripled in the U.S. in the last three months, while worldwide adoption has more than doubled during the same period. Another view shows that 20% of new Windows Vista PCs in the U.S. connecting to Windows Update in June were 64-bit PCs, up from just 3% in March," said Flores in his blog.

Additional enhancements in HASP SRM v 3.60 include:

--  Windows Envelope "Run-Time Wait" Function: software developers can now
    define the length of time that protected software waits before
    accessing the HASP SRM Run-time to ensure that HASP SRM Run-time is
    fully loaded and accessible. Available for Win32, Windows x64 and .NET
    files.
--  .NET Control: HASP SRM v 3.60 offers custom attributes for Envelope
    assembly which can be used to add protection definitions directly to
    source code.
--  Method-Level Licensing for Windows Envelope: individual licenses can
    now be applied to different .NET methods.
--  Exception Report Translator: enables software developers to convert an
    obfuscated exception report into a readable format.
--  Mac and Linux Envelope Updates:
      -  HASP SRM Envelope for Mac operating systems now enables the
         protection of 32-bit dylibs.
      -  HASP SRM Envelope for Linux operating systems now supports the
         protection of shared objects.
--  Runtime API: HASP SRM Run-time API for Java supports Mac and Linux
    operating systems.
