Dow Jones News
Shares of telecommunications companies fell slightly, as traders
hedged their bets on the outlook for deals and regulation in the
sector. Advertising conglomerate Interpublic Group of Cos entered
advanced talks to buy Acxiom's data-marketing unit in a deal that
could top $2.2 billion, The Wall Street Journal reported. Shares of
Chinese telecom-equipment company ZTE remained under pressure even
after reports that congressional resistance to a ban on U.S. use of
ZTE products was fading. 21st Century Fox shares ticked down after
a long runup on prospects of a bidding war between Walt Disney and
Comcast for much of the conglomerate's assets.
