Maytag Aircraft Corporation Pays to Fly Terminated Employees Back to U.S. - 'They Knowingly Broke the Rules & They Knew the Consequences' Statement by William Silva President, Maytag Aircraft Corporation COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- "Today, Maytag Aircraft Corporation arranged and paid for the return flight of two former employees who were recently terminated for photographing and working to publish photos of caskets of military personnel in Kuwait. Both employees were flown back to their home state of Washington. Both employees broke established Department of Defense and Company policies. They knowingly broke the rules and they knew the consequences. Department of Defense policy expressly prohibits photography of fallen U.S. military members in transit without prior consent. Additionally, Kuwait City International Airport regulations and local U.S. Air Force Operating Instructions also prohibit photography of flight line operations. All Maytag employees are required to follow these policies and instructions. The two employees that were terminated had asked for permission to take and publish photographs of the flag-draped caskets and the Military Command emphatically denied those requests. Ms. Silicio was not acting in her official capacity when she entered the cargo aircraft and photographed the caskets. She was directly instructed by aircraft personnel not to take photographs and she did anyway. Mr. Landry's requests to publish the photographs were twice denied. They knowingly broke the rules & they knew the consequences." Maytag Aircraft Corporation is a subsidiary of Mercury Air Group, Inc. (AMEX:MAX).
