Amazon.com said it is leasing a dozen Boeing aircraft from Air Transport Services Group to use for delivery.

Amazon said these 12 Boeing 767-300 converted cargo planes will add to its 70 aircraft fleet. Eleven of the 12 will be delivered next year and one was delivered last month, Amazon said.

The fleet is expanding as people have been staying at home or working from home during the Covid-19 pandemic and been trying to socially distance from others. Amazon noted that customers are relying on goods being delivered during this time.

The company is opening new air hubs this year and next.
