  Appointment of (Williams de Broe as) Financial Adviser and Corporate Broker
                        Senior Management Appointments
                                      and
                           Notice of Interim Results

The Board of United Overseas Group plc ("UOG"), the world-wide distributor  of
branded consumer goods, is pleased to announce:

The appointment of a Financial Adviser and Corporate Stockbroker
The  Company  has  appointed Williams de Broe Plc  as  Financial  Adviser  and
Corporate Stockbroker with immediate effect.

Two senior management appointments in The Netherlands and The United States
Mr Ries van Eijck has been appointed to the Board of Intertrading Boersema BV
the  group's  wholly owned subsidiary based in Moerdijk, The  Netherlands.  He
joins  UOG from Toys R Us where he held a number of senior positions including
Managing Director Toys R Us, Holland and latterly General Merchandise  Manager
and   Buying  Director  Toys  R  Us  Central  Europe  (Germany,  Austria   and
Switzerland).

Mr  Van  Eijck,  aged 42, has over 21 years experience of  the  European  toy
industry,  having  previously  been  employed  as  Buying  Director  for  both
Intertoys and Blokker, two leading Dutch retail chains.

Mr   Charles  (Chuck)  Miller  has  been  appointed  as  Vice  President   of
Merchandising  for UniTrade Marketing, the Group's operating subsidiary  based
in the United States. Mr Miller also joins from Toys R Us where he spent over
15  years  as  a  buyer encompassing all categories within  the  industry.  He
latterly specialised as Buying Co-ordinator for all close-outs.

Notice of Publication of Interim Results
United  Overseas Group plc also announces that its financial results  for  the
six months ended 30 June 2000, will be issued on Tuesday 19 September 2000.

Commenting  on  the  appointments, Mr Michael Corke, Group  Managing  Director
said:
"We  are  delighted to welcome two senior executives to our  US  and  European
operations  with  extensive expertise of the international toy  market  gained
over many years at leading retailers such as Toys R Us. These appointments not
only  enhance  and consolidate our trading opportunities in the important  toy
sector, but also provide us with additional senior management talent".

"The  Board  is also very pleased to announce the appointment of  Williams  de
Broe as the Group's new Financial Advisers and Corporate Stockbrokers. We look
