Siemens Healthineers AG said Tuesday that it plans to invest 160 million euros ($188 million) over the next five years in an innovation hub in India.

The German medical-equipment maker said the hub, which will be located in the city of Bengaluru, will be focused on developing solutions for the digitalization of health-care.

Up to 1,800 digital tech experts will be hired in the next 10 years, the company said.

"The investment is part of Siemens Healthineers' strategy 2025, in which India plays an important role as a growth market for the company," it said.
