Rheinmetall AG said Monday that it has received a contract from the British Ministry of Defense with an order volume of around 770 million euros ($936.5 million).

The German defense company said the order includes modernizing 148 main battle tanks of the Challenger 2 type.

Much of the work will be done at a plant in Telford in the West Midlands, which is a joint venture between Rheinmetall and BAE Systems PLC, Rheinmetall said.
