Siemens Energy AG said Wednesday that Norwegian oil-driller Odjfell Drilling is to fit its North Sea rigs with the company's emissions-reducing technology.

The German energy company said Odjfell Drilling will retrofit its rigs in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea with BlueDrive DC Grid technology, which helps reduce emissions by allowing generator sets to run at higher and steadier loads.

The upgrades will be carried out at two rigs initially, with the opportunity to subsequently fit the technology at three other rigs.
