Novatek said Thursday that it will work with Siemens Energy AG
to replace the natural gas used to fuel electricity and liquefied
natural gas production with hydrogen.
The project is part of a new agreement between the Russian and
the German energy companies to jointly develop high-tech solutions
to produce LNG, electricity, hydrogen and other products that help
them achieve their emissions reduction and energy-efficiency
goals.
"Our further collaboration with Siemens Energy to decarbonize
our LNG production will contribute significantly to the mitigation
of climate change, which is of paramount importance to reduce our
carbon footprint in the Arctic ecosystem," Novatek Chairman Leonid
Mikhelson said.
