BMW AG said it will increase the percentage of recycled and
reusable materials to be used in its cars to 50% from the current
30%, and that it would further decrease the carbon footprint of its
vehicles with the launch of new models.
The German auto maker said it plans to cut emissions by half per
car and kilometer driven by 2030 compared with 2019 levels. Looking
at the whole life cycle of a car, including production and upstream
supply chain, BMW said it plans to reduce emissions by at least 40%
per car.
The company also said that it put in place a partnership with
BASF SE and Alba Group PLC & Co. to build a recycling system
reducing the use of primary plastics.
