UPS Clinical-Logistics Arm Partners With Thread for Clinical-Trial Platform

Marken, United Parcel Service Inc.'s clinical-trial logistics
unit, has partnered with technology provider Thread, in a bid to
streamline the logistics of clinical-trial participation.
The companies Tuesday said the partnership means
clinical-research organizations won't have to manage individual
logistics to set up a study, and patients can coordinate aspects of
their participation, such as consent and sample analysis, under a
single entity.
UPS sees healthcare as among the most profitable shipments in
its business, Kathleen Gutmann, an executive at UPS Global
Healthcare, said earlier this month at an investor-day event.
