Target Corp. said it aims to spend more than $2 billion with Black-owned businesses by 2025, a goal that involves adding products from more than 500 Black-owned businesses to its shelves.

The retailer on Wednesday said the move builds on its effort to diversify its suppliers. The company said it plans to increase spending with Black-owned businesses such as marketing agencies, construction companies and facilities maintenance.

Target said it is also creating a program called Forward Founders, which aims to help Black entrepreneurs with ideation, product development and scaling for mass retail.
