Spotify Technology said it plans to cut about 200 jobs, or 2% of its workforce, as it reorganizes its podcasting division to focus on partnerships with top podcasters.

Sahar Elhabashi, Spotify's VP, head of podcast business, said the cuts will affect Spotify's podcast vertical as well as other functions. In a memo, she said the company is combining its podcast studios Parcast and Gimlet into a "renewed" Spotify Studios operation.

Dow Jones, publisher of The Wall Street Journal, has a content partnership with Gimlet Media, a unit of Spotify.

Earlier this year, Spotify said it would lay off about 600 employees, or 6% of staff, as part of a broader cost-cutting mission after the streaming company went on a spending spree during the pandemic.
