The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts rose 0.1% to 144.24. The European index advanced 0.4% to 139.48, the Asian index fell 0.4% to 166.49, the Latin American index declined 0.6% to 189.71 and the emerging markets index fell 0.9% to 281.83.

Sasol Ltd. and OMV AG were among the companies with ADRs that traded actively.

The company said challenges such as coal quality and productivity hit production and sales volume performance in the second quarter, and the outlook for the rest of the year.

ADRs of OMV fell 2.5% after the Austrian oil-and-gas major said it will put a new corporate structure in place on Jan. 1 as it builds out its focus on sustainable fuels, chemicals and materials.
