Business software titan Salesforce.com Inc. and consulting giant Accenture PLC teamed up to provide corporate clients with an overview of real-time and historical environmental, social and governance data, tapping the growing market for sustainability tools.

San Francisco-based Salesforce and Dublin-based Accenture said Tuesday that they would combine Accenture's Sustainability Services and Salesforce's Sustainability Cloud and Customer 360 into a new offering to help track and measure sustainability targets, including carbon-dioxide usage, supporting customer engagements and meeting regulatory requirements.

The companies said that the suite would add more ESG metrics later in the year, such as diversity and inclusion and water and waste management.

"Every CEO is recognizing their responsibilities don't stop at the edge of the corporate campus or Zoom," Marc Benioff, chairman and chief executive of Salesforce, said in prepared remarks. "By integrating sustainability deep into the fabric of our companies, our businesses will become more successful, our communities more equal, our societies more just and our planet healthier."
