MTU Aero Engines AG said Friday that its MTU Maintenance Zhuhai joint venture has signed a network agreement with aerospace manufacturer Pratt & Whitney for engine maintenance at a Chinese facility.

Under the agreement, the joint venture will perform maintenance, repair and overhaul work on GTF PW1100G-JM engines made by Raytheon Technologies Corp.'s subsidiary Pratt & Whitney, the German aircraft-engine manufacturer said.

"The facility will begin introduction of PW1100G-JM capabilities immediately and expects to be able to carry out maintenance, repair and overhaul work from mid-2021," it said, adding that "MTU Maintenance Zhuhai estimates a volume of 1,000 shop visits in the next 10 years."

MTU Maintenance Zhuhai is a joint venture between MTU Aero Engines and China Southern Airlines Co.
