Organon & Co., which is being spun off from Merck & Co. Inc., will join the S&P 500, S&P Dow Jones Indices said Thursday.

Organon will join the S&P 500 before the start of trading on June 3, replacing HollyFrontier, which will be removed from the S&P 500 prior to the start of trading on June 4, S&P Dow Jones Indices said.

Energy company HollyFrontier will join the S&P MidCap 400 on June 4, replacing Service Properties Trust. S&P Dow Jones Indices said Service Properties will move to the S&P SmallCap 600, replacing Lannett Co., Inc.

"HollyFrontier has a market capitalization more representative of the mid-cap market space, and Service Properties Trust has a market capitalization more representative of the small-cap market space," S&P Dow Jones Indices said, adding, "Lannett is no longer representative of the small-cap market space."

After the spinoff, Merck will remain in the S&P 500 and 100 indices, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices.
