MEDIA, Pa., June 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- InfraSource Services,
Inc. (NYSE:IFS) one of the largest specialty contractors serving
the utility transmission and distribution industry in the United
States, today announced the formation of InfraSource Technology, a
division intended to provide assistance to electric transmission
and distribution (T&D) utilities and other power industry
organizations in improving performance through the application of
technology and technical best practices. "We've assembled a core
group of recognized, world-class power delivery experts,"
InfraSource President and CEO David Helwig stated. "They have an
unmatched depth of practical, hands-on power system experience that
will enhance our ability to provide power system and power business
solutions for our customers." The new division's leadership team
includes: * Damir Novosel, Ph.D., President-InfraSource Technology
-- Damir is one of the nation's leading experts on T&D systems
and power system automation. During his 24 years in the industry,
he has developed concepts and methods to improve power system
planning, operation and maintenance and was awarded 16 patents. He
created and managed organizations that developed innovative
technology and new products and systems. He aided the power
industry in performing outage investigations, pinpointing system
stability problems, and planning and implementing corrective
actions. His contributions to McGraw-Hill 2006 Yearbook of Science
and Technology and the IEEE Spectrum "Taming the Power Grid" paper
provide guidance to prevent wide spread transmission outages like
the August 2003 Blackout. He is a Fellow of the Institute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc., (IEEE); an honorary
grade conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with
an extraordinary record of industry accomplishments. * Lee Willis,
Senior Vice President -- Lee is an expert in T&D planning,
aging infrastructure analysis, and utility asset management, and
has developed many planning and engineering methods that are now
considered industry best practices. A 33-year veteran of the
electric power industry, he has been instrumental in helping
customers to improve their asset management practices, optimize
asset investment decision-making, and manage aging infrastructure
over time. Also a Fellow of IEEE, Lee has authored seven books
including the Power Distribution Planning Reference Book and Aging
Power Delivery Infrastructures. * Richard Brown, PhD, MBA, Vice
President -- Richard is one of the power industry's leading experts
on reliability engineering and power systems failure analysis and
mitigation, and is author of the book Electric Power Distribution
Reliability. During the past 16 years, he has provided a range of
asset management services to utilities that have resulted in
reduced life-cycle costs, improved reliability, and reduced risk
exposure. Recently, Richard worked with an investor-owned utility
in the aftermath of heightened hurricane activity to assess
infrastructure storm performance and develop hardening plans, as
well as providing expert opinions to regulators and the public on
additional value-added steps that can be taken to prepare for
hurricanes, reduce storm-related infrastructure damage, and restore
service quickly. InfraSource Technology will work with other
InfraSource business units to develop leading-edge industry
practices and new services such as turnkey maintenance offerings
for customers that are looking for enhanced support for their
complex infrastructure. "Adding the Technology division to the
InfraSource team will broaden the scope of services we offer in the
power industry, enhancing our ability to help our customers to
further strengthen their system and business performance." Helwig
added. "I am excited that these experienced industry professionals
have joined the InfraSource team." InfraSource Technology will be
