Local Not-For-Profit Organizations Receive Funds to Strengthen and Empower Healthy Communities

Campbell Soup Company (NYSE: CPB) today announced the 31 recipients of the Campbell Soup Foundation’s 2019 Community Impact Grants totaling $595,000.

Campbell Soup Foundation grantmaking aligns with three focus areas: increasing healthy food access; encouraging healthy living; and nurturing Campbell neighborhoods. This year’s 31 recipients are located in Campbell’s hometown communities of Camden and East Brunswick, New Jersey; Bloomfield and Norwalk, Connecticut; Charlotte and Maxton, North Carolina; Napoleon and Willard, Ohio; Tualatin and Salem, Oregon; Hanover and Downingtown, Pennsylvania; Paris, Texas; Richmond, Utah; and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

“The Campbell Soup Foundation is a powerful community partner not only in Camden but in many Campbell hometown communities,” said Kim Fortunato, President, Campbell Soup Foundation and Director, Community Affairs. “In addition to financial support, we are proud of our robust volunteer engagement program that supports our community partners in a variety of ways. Congratulations to this year’s outstanding recipients who are making a significant impact in their local communities.”

This year’s grantees include:

  • Urban Gleaners, which focuses on healthy food access in Tualatin, Oregon, by collecting fresh food before it can go to waste and delivering it to hungry children and families;
  • After-School-All-Stars, which operates programs in Camden that provide a minimum of 60 minutes of structured health and fitness activities to kids after school; and,
  • The Northeast Texas Trail Coalition, who is working to “re-cycle” a rail banked corridor in Paris, Texas, into pedestrian, bicycle, and equestrian trails to allow for safe exercise and transportation, including safe bike routes to school.

Founded in 1953, the Campbell Soup Foundation provides financial support to local organizations that inspire positive change in communities throughout the U.S. While the Foundation places an emphasis on Camden, N.J., the site of Campbell’s World Headquarters and birthplace of its namesake soup business, it’s funding also supports other Campbell communities nationally. The Foundation is employee-run, governed by a Board of Trustees and advised by an Executive Committee. Campbell employees nominate eligible nonprofits for consideration for funding.
