Homeserve PLC said Thursday that it has agreed to a 4.08 billion pound ($5.04 billion) takeover by Brookfield Asset Management Inc.

Under the deal, accepting shareholders of the U.K. home-repairs business will get 1,200 pence in cash for each share held, the company said.

The price is a 71% premium to the company's closing price of 703.50 pence on March 23, the day before the Canadian investment management company disclosed its interest.
