BP PLC (BP.LN) said Thursday that its Chargemaster business has powered up its first 150 kilowatt ultra-fast electric vehicle chargers at one of the company's U.K. retail sites.

The integrated energy company said the units are the first in a planned rollout of 400 ultra-fast chargers at BP sites across the U.K. by the end of 2021. The network will continue to grow in line with new vehicle models arriving on the market that will be capable of ultra-fast charging.

Two of these new chargers are now installed at a retail site at Cranford, near London's Heathrow airport, and begin operating this week, BP said.
