Becton Dickinson & Co. said Chief Executive Tom Polen will assume additional responsibility as chairman of the board of directors, effective April 28.

The company said Mr. Polen will succeed Vincent A. Forlenza, who will retire at that time.

Becton Dickinson said Mr. Polen joined the company in 1999, and became CEO in January 2020.
