AvalonBay: Corporate Responsibility Progress Includes Solar Power, LED Retrofits

AvalonBay Communities Inc. said its 2019 corporate
responsibility achievements included the installation of 1.1
megawatts of solar power, with another 7.8 megawatts in design and
under construction.
The real-estate investment trust said it attained $3.1 million
in annual energy savings from light-emitting diode lighting
retrofits.
In connection with the release of its corporate responsibility
report, the company said it launched diversity-related programs
including bias-awareness training. It also reported $2.2 million in
cash and in-kind donations to regional philanthropy partners and
the American Red Cross.
