ADRs End Lower; Japanese Bank Stocks Trade Actively

International stocks trading in New York closed lower on
Friday.
The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts
slipped 1.2% to 145.47. The European index ticked down 0.9% to
141.57. The Asian index moved down 1.5% to 167.66. The Latin
American index lost 2.2% to 184.01, while the emerging-markets
index slipped 1.2% to 276.70.
ArcelorMittal SA was among those whose ADRs traded actively.
The steelmaker slid 3.2% after Vale SA said it and its partners
sold their stakes in steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem, or
CSP, to ArcelorMittal.
Japanese financial stocks, including Mitsubishi UFJ Financial
Group Inc. and Dai-ichi Life Holdings Inc., ended lower after the
Bank of Japan kept its easing program unchanged, dashing hopes for
higher rates.
