American Express Co. (AXP) on Friday said it expects to raise its quarterly dividend by 10.3% to 43 cents from 39 cents.

The new payout, equal to $1.72 a year, would represent an annual yield of about 1.34% based on Thursday's closing price of $128.40, up from about 1.21%.

The New York financial-services company said it expects to begin paying the increased dividend in the third quarter, subject to approval by the board.
