Allstate Estimates April Catastrophe Losses of $229 Million

Allstate Corp. (ALL) on Thursday said it estimates April pretax
catastrophe losses totaled $290 million, or $229 million after
taxes.
The Northbrook, Ill., insurance company said it recorded $259
million of pretax losses from seven events during the month, with
two wind/hail events that mainly hit Texas accounting for roughly
70% of that total.
Allstate incurred pretax catastrophe losses of $680 million, or
$537 million after taxes, in the first quarter of the year.
