Liberty, part of Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp., said Tuesday it would work with Meta Platforms Inc. on a new wind power project in Michigan.

The companies signed a long-term power purchase agreement for the Deerfield II wind project, a 112MW facility which will be located in Huron County adjacent to Liberty's Deerfield I wind facility. The new deal builds on an existing renewable energy partnership the companies have at the operating Altavista solar facility in Virginia, they said.

The new deal will contribute to Liberty's ESG goals and help Meta continue to support its operations with 100% renewable energy, the companies said.

Liberty will develop, engineer, construct, own and operate the project, which should begin commercial operations in 2023, the companies said.
