AFC Energy PLC said Wednesday that it is partnering with ABB Ltd. to develop a high-power electric-vehicle charging product for distribution from the second half of 2021.

AFC said the partnership aims to leverage its fuel-cell technology with ABB's energy storage and direct-current high-power electric-vehicle charge points. ABB entered the electric-vehicle charging market in 2010, and to date it has sold more than 17,000 DC fast chargers in 80 countries.

"Our strategic partnership with ABB will bring to market a unique, zero-emission solution that brings together world leaders in electrification and alkaline fuel cell technologies to support and enable deployment of future high power EV charging infrastructure," AFC Chief Executive Adam Bond said.
