ABB Ltd. (ABBN.EB) said late Monday that it received a $40
million order from German grid operator TransnetBW to upgrade a
high-voltage substation in the Obermooweiler area of Germany's
Baden-Wuerttemberg state.
The Swiss industrial group said it will install a 380-kilovolt
gas-insulated switchgear, which uses a more environmentally
friendly gas mixture than the industry standard.
ABB said the technology used in the substation will help Germany
meet its target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by
2020.
