Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. said Tuesday that John Standley
has stepped down as Walgreens president and that the business would
be reorganized under two leaders.
The company said Mr. Standley, who took over as president in
August 2020, is formally leaving on Nov. 1 to pursue other
interests.
"He led the team through a challenging time during the pandemic,
and was integral to our unprecedented national rollout of COVID-19
vaccines and testing and to laying the foundation for our
transformation to a healthcare company," Chief Executive Roz Brewer
said.
The Walgreens segment would now be reorganized under two
leaders, with Lee Cooper, CEO of the Walgreens-owned Shields Health
Solutions, taking over pharmacy operations while Tracey Brown,
president of retail products and chief customer officer, taking
over retail operations.
