Item 8.01. Other Events.

On October 12, 2022, TMC the metals company Inc. (the “Company”) issued a press release announcing that the Company had successfully collected an initial batch of seafloor polymetallic nodules (the “Nodules”) and transported the Nodules to the surface during its ongoing pilot collection system testing in the Clarion Clipperton Zone of the Pacific Ocean. A copy of the press release is filed as Exhibit 99.1 to this Current Report on Form 8-K and incorporated herein by reference.
