Illumina Inc. (ILMN) no longer will buy Pacific Biosciences of California Inc. (PACB), the companies said Thursday.

The companies said they wouldn't do a deal "considering the lengthy regulatory approval process the transaction has already been subject to and continued uncertainty of the ultimate outcome."

The deal had been announced in November 2018.
